제목 A perylene-based lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal for the thin film polarizer
초록 A perylene-based lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal (abbreviated as PBLC) was newly synthesized for the thin film polarizer with mechanical and chemical stabilities. PBLC has hydrophobic aromatic cores, hydrophilic ionic groups and reactive parts. The anisotropic optical properties and molecular self-assembly of PBLC were investigated by the spectroscopic techniques combined with microscopic and scattering observations. It was found that a typical columnar nematic phase forms in PBLC-water solution (10 to 30 wt% at RT). And thin film polarizer was fabricated by simple shear process and subsequent photo-polymerization. Degree of polarization (DOP) of this film was 99.81% at the maximum absorption wavelength 491nm. Additionally, we evaluated mechanical and chemical stabilities of the thin film polarizer.
