제목 Synthesis and Properties of New Thiourethane Plastic Lens
초록 The general plastic lens in the market place has been made from polyethylene glycol bis(allylcarbonate), poly(methylmethacrylate) and diallyl phthalate resins, which have refractive indexes (nD) in the ranges from 1.50 to 1.60. The plastic lenses with high refractive indexes (nD) as well as light weight are required to enhance the optical function of plastic lens and polythiourethanes have been known to have high refractive indexes above 1.65. However, most of thiourethane lenses have been developed in Japan and limited amounts of thiourethane lenses together with law materials have been sold out to other countries.

In the course of studying high refractive plastic material, we have developed a new polythiol which was transformed into thiourethane in cast-mold polymerization as transparent lens. The thermal and optical properties of new polythiourethanes were evaluated and will be discussed.
