Non-Solvent-Floating Method Inducing Formation Highly Crystalline Conjugated Polymer Nanofibrils in Solution State for High-Performance Organic Transistors |

Here we report dip-coating printing of highly crystalline polymer semiconductor nanofibrils via a non-solvent-floating (NSF) technique. This NSF method enables the conjugated polymer to form highly crystalline nanofibrils in the interface between two solvents through slow crystallization during the aging time. We investigated how the non-solvent floated on top of major solution diffuse into lower lying polymer-dissolving host solution, inducing polymer crystallization. We demonstrated that the HSP difference is correlated with the degree of intermixing of the high-lying non-solvent and low-lying major solution, and affected polymer crystallization and its stability in the solution state as a function of aging times. We correlate the NSF-processed dip-coated thin films with field-effect charge carrier mobility in the resulting dip-coated P3HT transistors. This study confirms the potential of NSF method as a scalable film preparation method for use in flexible printed electronics. |
