제목 Reverse mode polymer dispersed liquid crystals using PUAs
초록 Polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films are formed by liquid crystal microdroplets embedded in a polymer matrix. In the normal mode operation, they are in an opaque state (OFF state) and can be turned into a transparent state (ON state) by controlling the liquid crystal molecule orientation by means of a suitable voltage. A greater interest has been aroused by reverse mode PDLCs, which are transparent in the absence of the external filed and opaque when the field is turned on.
We prepared a reverse mode device by photopolymerization of urethane acrylates with LC of negative dielectric anisotropy. Polyurethane acrylates(PUAs) have great advantage of easy structure control. The effects of prepolymer molecular structure were studied in terms of transmittance, voltage-transmittance relationship, threshold voltage, and response time.
