제목 | Effect of Surface Modifing Agent on Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals |
초록 | Polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs), fabricated with one of several phase separation method, contain a dispersion of micrometer size or submicron size liquid crystal droplet dispersed in a polymer matrix. PDLC film has considerable potential for use in device requiring shuttered or modulated light. To reduce the driving voltage, we synthesized the surface modifing agent capped with fluoroalkyl alcohol. To gain the optimum formulation, we controlled the crosslinking density of polymer matrix as well as the molecular weight of surface modification agent. The PDLC film of the lowest driving voltage was saturated at 5V. To measure the various properties in PDLC, we measured refractive index by Abbe refractor, transmittance dependent on voltage, and response time, and morphology by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). |
