제목 Ionic liquid incorporated copper metal organic framework for the cycloaddition of epoxide and CO2
초록 Carbon dioxide being the main greenhouse gas formed by human activities, its capture and sequestration is highly essential. The cycloaddition of CO2 with highly reactive epoxides to form cyclic carbonates is thermodynamically feasible. Most recently, MOFs have been found to be highly efficient in catalyzing the epoxide-CO2 transformation in the presence of nucleophilic co-catalysts. MOFs are a class of crystalline compounds with a wide range of applications. Here in this work, a heterogeneous one-component catalyst system has been developed by incorporating an ionic liquid into the micropores of a copper based MOF. The incorporation of ionic liquid into the pores of the catalyst was proved by various characterization techniques such as XRD, FTIR, DSC and TGA analysis. Catalytic potentials of IL incorporated copper based MOF for the CO2 cycloaddition with epoxide was carried out by using propylene oxide (PO) as the substrate. The catalyst was separable by simple decantation method and the heterogeneity of the catalytic system was confirmed by recyclability experiments.  A plausible mechanism for the IL incorporated copper based MOF catalyzed cycloaddition was also proposed.
