Study of catalysts prepared by loading Pt on various sizes of carbon nanotubes for proton exchange membrane fuel cell |

Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are an attractive power source for various applications, since they are relatively simple electrochemical power plants that directly converts chemical energy into electrical energy efficiently without air pollution. Polyaniline (PANI) nanotubes with various aspect ratios have been prepared successfully, which were subsequently calcined to form carbon nanotubes. Pt nanoparticles were formed in situ on the surface of the carbon nanotubes. Membrane electrode assemblies were prepared using the Pt-dispersed carbon nanotubes. The Pt loading conditions were characterized by XRD and ICP. The Pt-dispersed carbon electrodes were characterized by TEM. Cell performances were also studied along with the durability test. The experimental data will be presented in detail. |
