Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have excellent catalytic activity with the covalent bonds between the transition metal and chalcogen atoms. In this study, we fabricate a HER microreactor of MoS2 – MoSe2 heterostructures, which were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). We found that MoS2 – MoSe2 heterostructure shows enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance; 380 mV (at 10 mA/cm2) and 171 mV/dec for overpotential and Tafel slop, respectively. The graphene layers have been used to reduce the contact resistance between heterostructure and gold electrode in HER microreactor, leading to excellent HER performance, 235 mV (at 10 mA/cm2) and 147 mV/dec for overpotential and Tafel slop, respectively. It was observed that the repeated grain boundaries in the MoS2 – MoSe2 heterostructures produce an increase in catalytic activity with larger active areas, compared to those of MoS2 flakes grown by chemical vapor deposition. In addition, improved electrochemical reactions were observed in the vertical structure by reducing the contact resistance with Au by using graphene. |
