ABS/PLA composites were prepared by melt compounding ABS with PLA. To improve the compatibility between ABS and PLA, maleic anhydride grafted styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN-MAH), maleic anhydride grafted ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR-MAH), glycidyl methacrylate grafted styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN-GMA), poly carbonate (PC) and PE-epoxy were incorporated. Mechanical properties of ABS/PLA composites were explored as a function of the content of the additives. EPR-MAH, SAN-MAH, SNA-GMA, PC and PE-epoxy improved tensile properties and Izod impact strength of the composites. SEM analysis exhibited that the boundary between ABS and PLA became much more obscure in ABS/SAN-MAH/EPR-MAH/SAN-GMA/PE-epoxy/PC/PLA than in ABS/PLA composite owing to the stronger interaction between the components through the plausible chemical reaction. |
