In this work, the role of the SAN-grafted-multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the rheological and electrical percolation of the PC composites has been investigated. SAN copolymers are synthesized on the surface of the nanotubes through surface initiated atom transfer polymerization and characterized using various characterization tools followed by the melt blending with polymer matrix at various nanotube loadings. For the melt processing, the percolation response of the polymeric nanocomposites depend on characteristics such as size, aspect ratio of CNT, loading of CNTs and interfacial adhesion between the polymer matrix and CNT. Hence, the rheological measurements have been used to demonstrate the influence of the concentration of the grafted SAN on varying the MWCNTs loading in the nanocomposites. The correlation between the microstructure and the electrical properties of the nanocomposites are investigated. |
