Polarized optical absorption spectroscopy and the second harmonic generation(SHG) fringe patterns of nonlinear optical material in LB films provide informations of molecular organization and orientation in LB films. Small chromophores with short alkyl chain tend to generate unorganized films. However, longer alkyl chain generally forms more organized films, with chormophore which orients more perpendicular to the substrate plane. Arachidic acid(AA) layer provides interesting feature in polarized absorption spectrum and SHG fringe patterns. For more organized films, AA layer influences to have higher SHG intensities than the films without AA layers.
