제목 | Synthesis and Characterization of Multi-block Poly(arylene ether sulfone ketone) for AMFC Application |
초록 | Alkaline membrane fuel cell (AMFCs) have received a lot of attention in the last decade as an alternative for proton exchange membranes fuel cell (PEMFCs). AMFCs were expected to reduce use of noble catalysts because oxygen reduction reaction are more favorable under alkaline condition. However, the low availability and questionable stability of anion exchange membranes (AEMs) have impeded broad expansion of their use. Chemical instability of the hydroxide exchange functional group and low ion conductivities have been determined as major issues of AEM. In this report, novel AEM aromatic multi-block copolymers were synthesized from hydrophilic and hydrophobic oligomer precursors via nucleophilic aromatic substitution. Polymers were brominated with a high degree of conversion, followed by quaternization and ion exchange reaction. Tough and bendable membranes were obtained by solution casting method. The membranes were characterized by NMR, ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake and ion conductivity. |
