In this work, activated carbon fibers (ACF) were prepared under various steam activation conditions for the supercapacitor. The textural properties were studied by BET, DR, and NLDFT equations with N2/77K adsorption isotherms. The crystallite structure of the ACF was observed by XRD. The ACF was applied as an electrode for the supercapacitor and analyzed in relation to the activation condition. The electrochemical properties of the supercapacitor were analyzed by using a galvanostatic charge/discharge, cyclic voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. As a result, the specific surface area of activated carbon increased as the activation time increased. The specific surface area and total pore volume of the ACF were determined to be 1,300-2,500 m2/g and 0.5-1.2 cm3/g, respectively. Also, the specific capacitance of ACF was determined by the textural properties of activated carbons. |
