By using nickel nitrate, cobalt nitrate, and terephthalic acid precursor, NickelCobalt-Terephthalic (NiCo-TPA) was fabricated on Ni-foam through a typical hydrothermal method. After that, NickelCobalt-Terephthalic@Twomethylimidazole (NiCo-TPA@TMI) was synthesized through a process called Solvent-Assisted Ligand Exchange (SALE), in which organic linkers of the NiCo-TPA were partially substituted by treating that in 2-Methylimidazole in ethanol solution. Prepared NiCo-TPA and NiCo-TPA@TMI were used as supercapacitor electrodes, where the latter showed higher performance. As a result of electrochemical measurements, NiCo-TPA@TMI showed much higher specific capacitance (2251.5 F/g) than NiCo-TPA (1045.95 F/g) at 1 A/g. Introducing 2-methylimidazole ligand leads to increased electrochemical active sites of the metal-organic frameworks with a change in morphology, implying the enhanced electrochemical performance of NiCo-TPA@TMI. |
