A novel fluorescent chemosensor for Cu2+ based on Rhodamine 6G moiety of Phenyl hydrazine was simply synthesized and investigated for photophysical properties. Rhodamine 6G derivated fluorescent sensor1 showed highly selective and sensitive fluorescent “turn on” toward Cu2+ in DMSO: Acetonitrile 1:9 solution. It displayed a 112-fold increase in fluorescence at 540nm upon addition of Cu2+ but various metal ions including Ag+, K+, Li+, Na+, Ca2+, Cd2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Hg2+, Zn2+, Ba2+, Mg2+,Fe2+,Ce+,Al3+ caused less or smaller spectral changes. The 2:1 stoichiometry of chemosensor complex 1+Cu2+ was confirmed by job’s plots based on absorbance titration. |
