The microparticles are widely used in various engineering fields, such as medical technology, biotechnology, applied physics and research. In this work, we present a simple synthesis approach for the preparation of negatively charged microparticles in microfluidic system. The droplet based microfluidic method combined with in situ photopolymerization produces highly monodisperse microparticles. The size of the prepared microspheres can be manipulated by altering the flow rates of the continuous and dispersed phase. We demonstrate the phase diagram of flow pattern according to capillary numbers of both phases. Furthermore, surface charge of prepared microparticles is analyzed by zeta potential measurement and observing the electrostatic interaction with charged fluorescence molecules. As a result, we envision that the charged microparticles can be applied to drug delivery, cosmetics, and filtration. |
