제목 Effect of porosity and surface characteristics on heavy metal removal of titania materials from water
초록 Heavy metals dissolved in water are harmful and toxic to living beings. Therefore, to remove the heavy metals, various methods have been applied. Among the methods, adsorption has been highlighted owing to high efficiency. In this study, the removal behaviors of various heavy metals, such as Cr, Se, Mn, and Zn, were studied using commercial titanium oxide materials with different characteristics. No specific differences in crystal structure and morphology of the materials investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were confirmed. The textural properties of the materials were elucidated from N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. Zeta potential of the materials was measured to verify surface charge of the titanium oxide materials. The materials what we investigated have different mesopore volumes, pore sizes, and surface charges. It was found that the porosity and surface characteristics were a key point for the removal of heavy metals from water.
