Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have been attracted great attention and developed for the past decade because of their advantage such as flexibility, light weight, and price competitiveness. Recently, acceptor–donor–acceptor–donor–acceptor (A–D–A–D–A) calamitic-type non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) have been development due to advantages of tunable energy levels, easy synthesis and strong absorption of UV-vis regions, comparing with fullerene derivatives. In this work, we synthesized the new A–D–A–D–A calamitic-type NFAs which have benzothiadiazole and thiophene units, through well-known Suzuki coupling reaction and Knoevenagel condensation. We measured physical properties of these NFAs including thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties, and fabricated the OPV devices. The relationship between device performance and molecular structure change was also investigated. |
