Blending of polymer has become an increasingly important area because it shows substantial enhancements of several properties. In this work, we prepared LLDPE-rubber blends by melt mixing. The effect of blend ratio, crystallinity of the blends on mechanical, thermal aging, rheological properties and heat deformation were investigated. Increasing rubber content resulted in a decrease in the mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength and tear strength of LLDPE-rubber blends. This may be explained to the presence of lower crystallinity in the rubber rich blends. On the other hand, the heat deformation and thermal aging properties of the blends enhanced with increase in rubber content. The crystallinzation studies on LLDPE-rubber blends were performed with differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The heat of fusion and crystallinity of the blends were reduced by the addition of rubber. |
