제목 Improvement of the mechanical properties of poly(L-lactic acid) with solid-state extrusion
초록 PLA has received attention as a material for the bone fixation device due to its biodegradability and biocompatibility. It doesn't behavior such as Stress shield due to the biodegradability, but its basic physical property is insufficient to compare with native bone. So, many researchers conducted a study mainly to make PLA composition with filler or filaments to enhance the mechanical strength of PLA. However, when the adhesion between PLA matrix and filler is broken, physical properties can decrease rapidly. On the contrary, Solid-State Extrusion technique can make PLA filament into PLA matrix by giving orientation on PLA chain in the matrix. So, it doesn't exist the problem of binding force between filler and matrix. In this study, we explore the processing conditions for a vacuum compression and solid-state extrusion with various draw ratio to minimize molecular weight loss from thermal degradation and maximize the mechanical strength.
