제목 Enhanced hemocompatibility and oriented microstructure on poly(L-lactic acid) surface by solid-state drawing
초록 Blood-contact biomaterials such as vascular stents and artificial vessels require hemocompatibility as well as mechanical strength. However, it is difficult for biodegradable polymer simultaneously to improve the properties. Therefore, the aim of this study is to show that solid-state drawing(SSD) can improve not only mechanical strength but also hemocompatibility. This technique prevents thermal degradation and maximizes strengthening by molecular chain orientation because extrusion is carried out at temperature between Tg and Tm. The previous study showed that SSD could considerably increase tensile strength of poly L-lactic acid(PLLA), and this study has focused on hemocompatibility of solid-state drawn PLLA(SSD-PLLA). We confirmed that SSD-PLLA surface was less damaged than undrawn from strong base and more blood-compatible. In conclusion, oriented microstructure on surface could be made by SSD process and it could significantly enhance chemical resistance and hemocompatibility.
