Nowadays, great attention has been paid to clay nanocomposite by many researchers because of its remarkable properties in mechanical and barrier applications. As a series of using 1,4-butanediol obtained from glucose, in-situ polymerization of PBT/organoclay nanocomposite was studied in this work. Organoclays were made by intercalation reaction with thermal stable phosphate type reagents. Each or mixed dodecyltriphenylphosphonium bromide and (3-carboxypropyl) triphenylphosphonium bromide were selected and reacted with Na+ clay. Phosphate treated organoclays were dispersed into 1,4-butanediol, and then in-situ polymerization of PBT nanocomposite was performed. The thermo-mechanical properties and the morphologies of the PBT/organoclay nanocoposites were examined by using of DSC, TGA, XRD and TEM. |
