Nylon 11 is a polyamide bioplastic derived from vegetable oil and possesses excellent piezoelectric behavior and good cryogenic as well as low moisture-sorption properties. It is widely used in high-performance applications such as automotive fuel lines, pneumatic airbrake tubing, electrical anti-termite cable sheathing, oil and gas flexible pipes, sports shoes, electronic device components, and catheters. In this study, we used two different organic materials, sodium 2,2'-methylenebis-(4,6-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphate and polymeric additive based on polyamide 2,2 (Brueggolen® P22), as a nucleating agent for nylon 11. The influence of the nucleating agents on the crystallization behavior, thermal stability and mechanical properties of nylon 11 was investigated by POM, DSC, TGA, DMA, and UTM. With the addition of nucleating agent into nylon 11, crystallization rate was enhanced and Young’s modulus, dynamic storage modulus and glass transition temperature was increased. |
