One pot synthesis of ZnO hollow balls by solvothermal technique and its characterization |

Zinc oxide (ZnO) hollow balls (HBs) on Si substrates were grown by the solvothermal synthesis by using ethylene glycol (EG). The morphological characterization revealed uniform balls like structures of average diameter ~3μm. The elemental analysis and crystalline characterizations showed that synthesized ZnO HBs possessed a single crystalline structure of good crystal quality. The prominent band-edge ultraviolet (UV) and weak visible emission (blue) of ZnO HBs were studied by the room temperature photoluminescence spectra (PL) which confirmed the excellent optical properties. ZnO HBs were further analyzed by the XPS spectroscopy to investigate the chemical structure which clearly deduced the formation of ZnO crystals via Zn+2 and O2- ions. |
