제목 Preventing attachment of biological/non-biological contaminants on cotton fabric surfaces: Improving hygiene by process of nanoparticle-based surface energy control
초록 ADJ cotton (cotton adjacent fabric) is a 100% cotton fabric made in accordance with ISO 105FO2 standard and is used in various industries (e.g., food industry and hospital industry) as an antimicrobial and antifungal test fabric. In this study, fluorinated silica nanoparticles (FSN) have been prepared using 1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane (PFDTS) and silicon dioxide. The physicochemical characterization of FSN on the cotton surfaces (i.e., treated by spray coating technique) was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, and CLSM. The water contact angle measurements show a wetting transition of the FSN-coated cotton surfaces from the Wenzel state to the Cassie-Baxter state. The FSN-coated cotton with durable anti-biofouling surfaces has been shown to significantly reduce the attachment of biological contaminants (e.g., fungi, protein, and blood) and non-biological contaminants (e.g., soil, detergent, and dust) to improve personal hygiene and sanitation.
