Abstract Pollutions caused by oil spill accidents and industrial dischages have been recognized as a particularly severe environmental issue. Thus, oil/water separation has been of great interest in recent years. Many efforts have been focused on the development of advanced techniques and materials for effective oil/water separation. However, most such techniques and materials are able to separate oil or water layer only. They also suffer from the limitation of high fabrication cost due to multisteps and complex process. Thus, a simple process technique to solve or address abovementioned issues is urgently required for simultaneous separation of oil as well as water layers. We report novel one step technique to fabricate superhydrophobic sponge capable of separating oil as well as water. |
