Synthesis and characterization of fluorene-anthracene based blue light emitting copolymer |

With the growth of organic and polymeric electronics, importance of new polymeric materials usable for such electronics devices becomes emphasized more and more. We report several conjugated polymers containing both fluorene and anthracene groups. Poly(fluorene)s are well-known blue light emitting polymers among many conjugated polymers, so we introduce an anthracene group to improve various properties of poly(fluorene)s. Because of its short conjugation length, anthracene has great potential for blue light emitting material. By modifying functional groups of C-9, 10 positions, we can easily improve its solubility and tune its color by modification of these positions. we synthesize poly(fluorene-co-anthracene)s by Suzuki coupling reaction. These polymers are thermally stable and dissolve in common organic solvents such as chloroform and chlorobenzene. The thermal properties of these polymers were measured by TGA and DSC, and optical properties was studied by UV and PL. |
