Metal Oxides Decorated Carbon Nanotube-Polyaniline Hybrid Nanostructures |

Carbon nanotubes offer a great deal of properties and can be tuned further, for different applications, by incorporating them with metal oxides and electroactive conjugated polymers. In this study, we focused on polymerization of aniline, through chemical method, on carbon nanotubes (CNT) for different reaction times. CNT was uniformly coated by polyaniline and its diameter increased with increasing reaction time till 60min, afterwards it remains the same. The nucleation of aniline on CNT was observed to be much faster even at a very low reaction time. Afterwards, metal oxides (MnOx and RuOx) were uniformly decorated on CNT-Pani nanostructures. The morphology and interaction among CNT, pani and MOx within hybrid nanostructures was studied using scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The experimental results suggest that there exists a strong interaction between CNT, pani and metal oxides. |
