제목 Decomposition of Urea into NH3 for SCR Process
초록 Urea-SCR, the selective catalytic reduction of NOx using urea as a reducing agent, has been reported as one of the most promising way to reduce NOx emissions originating from automotive engines. Urea is currently employed as a storage compound of NH3 for an alternative reductant for the removal of NOx from stationary sources to overcome the problem encountered by the use of NH3. Since NH3 is the reductant actually participating in the urea-SCR reaction, it is of critical importance in the design of practical urea-SCR system to ensure complete and selective decomposition of urea into NH3. In the present study, the decomposition of urea has been examined using the dual reactor system under a variety of thermal and catalytic decomposition conditions to understand the chemistry of urea decomposition and to optimize the reaction conditions for the effective decomposition of urea into NH3. Based upon the experimental data, the kinetic models for both the thermal and catalytic decomposition of urea were developed.
