Adsorption of unpleasant smelling substances such as ammonia, trimethylamine, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, ethylene and methyl mercaptane onto nano carbon ball with hollow macroporous core/mesoporous shell structures, nano carbon ball, was investigated and compared with that onto odor adsorbent materials, activated carbon, commercially available. Catalytic decomposition reactions on the nano carbon ball and the activated carbon have also been studied. Deodorization capacities of various deodorants for methyl mercaptan, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde gases have been estimated by ISO/TS 11155-1 method. After the tubular catalytic reaction, the products formed in the samples were extracted by methanol and analyzed by GC-Mass to understand the reaction pathway. |
