Lipid bilayer is one of the essential components of natural cells that plays a governing role in cell signal transduction, immune recognition, and other numerous biochemical processes. Despite its huge importance, not much has been clearly known regarding the physicochemical characteristics of bilayer membrane organization. Technological advancement in the last decade enables one to mimick cell membranes better in artificial analog forms including spherical vesicular and planar bilayer structures. These biomimetic structures act as fantastic platforms quite useful in search of panoramic discoveries and related applications provided that one needs efficient and reliable methods acquiring information relating to events and dynamics in the bilayer region. In this presentation, both theoretical and experimental consideration will be given on the introduction of conjugated polymeric moieties in the lipid bilayer structures in the aspects of membrane organization and signal reporting. |
