Recently carbon thin films have been investigated extensively for their advanced applications including transparent electrodes, capacitors, and film heaters owing to high electrical conductivity, optical transmittance, thermal and chemical stability. In this study, we fabricated a series of carbon thin films with different thicknesses by using a wholly aromatic polyamide precursor, poly(2-cyano-1,4-phenylene terephthalate), via spin-coating and following carbonization. The microstructures, optical and electrical properties of the carbon thin films were characterized systematically as a function of the film thickness by using Raman, FT-IR, UV/visible, XPS, SEM, and ohmmeter for the potential usages as transparent electrodes and film heaters. |
