제목 Microscopic evidence for strong interaction between Pd and graphene oxide that results in metal-decoration-induced reduction
초록 We investigate the relationship between the microstructure and electrical properties of metal-decorated graphene oxide (GO) that is associated with the interaction energy between noble metals and GO. The strong interaction between Pd and GO leads to faster coverage and pseudo-epitaxial  growth. The origin of the pseudo-epitaxial growth for the Pd-decorated GO was related to the formation of a PdO interlayer, which is the outcome of the interaction between Pd and oxygen functional groups in GO. The formation of a PdO interlayer diminishes the lattice mismatch of Pd on GO and reduces GO by consuming the oxygen functional groups. Moderate Pd decoration can enhance hydrogen sensing and hydrogen evolution properties of GO. This study demonstrates the unique growth mode of Pd on GO that results in metal-decoration-induced reduction of GO, providing new insights and a deep understanding to design and control the novel functionalities of GO achieved through decoration with various metals.
