제목 Dexamethasone loaded PLGA Scaffolds for Chondrogenic Differentiation of Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells
초록 Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are capable of differentiating into connective tissue-forming cell lineages. Known as an alternataive cell source to chondrocytes, many studies have utilized them for in vitro cartilage formation under an appropriate 3D environment, along with the use of growth factors and dexamethasone (DEX). These would stimulate cartilaginous matrix prodution. In particular, TGF-β1 is a multifunctional protein that promotes the proliferation of BMSCs and enhances the chondrogenic differentiation in vitro. And dexamethasone has been shown to induce chondrogenic differentiation in Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell. Therefore growth factors and a DEX loaded porous scaffold might be a plausible tactics in improving cartilage-forming efficacy of BMSC. In the present work, we hypothesized that this novel DEX loaded scaffolds may be a suitable platform for the induction of chondrogenic differentiation of BMSC.
