제목 Cell adhesion and protein adsorption onto PEO or PEO-sulfonate grafted surface
초록 The biocompatibilty of materials is decided by the surface properties including hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity. Hydrophilic surfaces or PEO-grafted surfaces are known to suppress protein or cell adhesion. In this study, PEO or PEO-sulfonate was grafted onto polymers by UV irradiation utilizing photoactive azide end group. The surfaces photo-grafted by PEO or PEO-sulfonate were characterized by the dynamic contact angle measurement and ESCA analysis. The cell adhesion study was conducted on the modified surfaces to investigate the effect of PEO or PEO-sulfonate groups grafted. The modified surfaces exhibited the increased hydrophilicy and decreased cell adhesion. The protein adsorption was also studied by the QCM-D (quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring) method.
