Effects of bimetal Rh-Pd incorporated graphitic carbon nitride for liquid-phase carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid |

The Rh and Pd incorporated graphitic carbon nitride (Rh(x)Pd(5-x)-g-C3N4) were investigated for a liquid-phase carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid (AA) to compete with the commercialized Rh-based homogeneous catalyst under the reaction conditions of 413 K and CO pressure of 4.0 MPa for reaction of 3-7 h. The Rh-Pd-g-C3N4 bimetallic catalysts was synthesized with different composition from 1.25 wt% to 3.75 wt% of active metals and it was an effective candidate for a reasonable heterogeneous with a small amount of Rh species compared with that of commercialized homogeneous catalyst. The conversions of methanol were above 99 mol% on the Rh(1.25)Pd(3.75)-g-C3N4 with AA yield above 90 mol%. The catalytic properties of the Rh-Pd incorporated g-C3N4 catalysts were characterized by using XRD, BET, XPS, ICP and TEM analysis. |
