제목 | Can “the Hydrogen Economy” be realized? |
초록 | In preparation for the coming end of the “Oil Economy” during which we have been heavily relying on petroleum and natural gas for energy, there are lots of emerging developmental trials for use of H2 via electrochemical reaction for preserving or transaction of energy. Particularly, numbers of efforts are concentrating to load H2 on the vehicles for fuels. However, everybody knows in the field of synthetic chemistry, if we need to use H2 for some reaction, we have to come to the site of hydrogen yielding, not to bring the H2 back to our original working place. It is because the density of H2 is quite lower; the efficiency of transportation must be extremely inefficient. In this talk, the problems at present stages and remaining issues of the infrastructure building of direct fueling the hydrogen with comparing a liquid fuel with much higher density, “methanol” and “Methanol Economy” would be discussed. In the” Methanol Economy”, MeOH to be synthesized from CO2, and after burning in any fuel cell or engine, MeOH would be back to CO2 again as carbon neutral. Furthermore, methanol can derive to various materials composed by carbon as a significant carbon sources replacing oil ad gas.Improvements Would be needed for the catalysts on the step of MeOH forming from CO2, and re-evaluations on PEMFC with reformer, and DMFC. |
