제목 | Direct measurements of interaction forces between lipid bilayers using Surface Forces Apparatus (SFA) |
초록 | Interaction forces between lipid membranes (bilayers) were directly measured using a Surface Forces Apparatus (SFA). This talk contains two different but closely related works. In the first part of this talk, the effects of Myelin Basic Protein (MBP, an inter-membrane protein) concentrations and lipid compositions on the inter-membrane adhesion forces will be discussed. As model lipid membranes, two different compositions of lipid mixtures are used: (i) the composition of a healthy myelin, and (ii) the composition of a diseased myelin. In the second part of the talk, a pressure induced hemifusion event of two supported model lipid bilayers have been imaged using a Fluorescence-SFA. Using this technique, evolution of the membrane thickness and the rearrangement of lipid domains are monitored simultaneously. Also, the effects of applied pressure on the rate of bilayer hemifusion is investigated. |
