Temperature-responsive hydrogel that undergoes sol-to-gel transition as the temperature increases has been widely studied for the last decade. This hydrogel can be made by modifying the hydrophilic and hydrophobic part of the material. So we synthesized poly(L-alanine)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(L-alanine)-bipyridine carboxylate (PA-PEG-PA-BDC). PEG has biocompatibility in that PEG has been approved for oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous injections. The polymer exhibited lower critical solution temperature (LCST). The aqueous solution of PA-PEG-PA-BDC underwent sol-to-gel transition in the range of 10-50℃ as the solution weight percentage of the polymer decreased. Here, we investigated the solution behavior of PA-PEG-PA-BDC for its biomedical applications. |
