제목 Conformational Effect of Self-Assembled Monolayers on the Growth of Pentacene Crystals
초록 Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of 1,1’-binaphthyl(BN) derivatives were synthesized and utilized for controlling the growth of organic crystals on solid surfaces. BN SAMs, of which two naphthalene groups are twisted along the carbon(1)-carbon(1’) single bond, resemble Czech hedgehogs on which packing of foreign molecules is anticipated to be hindered. BN SAM was prepared by immersion-coated in the BNSiCl2 solution. The structure of the BN SAM was varied by the substituents at 6,6’-positions of the BN moiety. Micro-patterns consisting of the BN and octadecyltrichlorisilane (OTS) SAMs were also prepared. Pentacene was deposited by the thermally evaporated method on the SAMs. The results show that the BN SAM decreased the nucleation density and increased the growth rate of pentacene crystals compared with SiO2 or OTS surface.
