Self-assembly of organic molecules has been of great interest to create functional materials with nanoscale supramolecular structures. In this study, we synthesized a new type of banana-shaped thermoreversible organic gelator containing amide and electron-transportable oxadiazole moieties. This material was self-assembled into a translucent immobile gel via intermolecular hydrogen bond of amide groups in organic hydrocarbon solvents such as dodecane. This organogel was completely dissolved into homogeneous solution by heating and reformed thermoreversibly on cooling. The thermal and gel-forming properties will be discussed on the basis of the results of polarized optical microscopy (POM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
