Polymeric micelles are promising carriers for anti-cancer agents due to their small size, ease of assembly, and versatility for functionalization. Stimuli-responsive materials provide a mechanism for triggered drug release in the response to a stimulus from external force/field or internal microenvironments. In this work, we developed functional anticancer drug carriers based on stimuli responsive polymers to enhance the cellular uptake and targeting efficiency, and also integrated diverse therapeutic (e.g. photodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy) approaches to improve the therapeutic efficiency of single modality. Three topics will be introduced from the design rationale of stimuli-responsive carriers to in-vitro/in-vivo study on therapeutic efficiency. (I) pH-dependent, thermosensitive polymeric nanocarriers for drug delivery to solid tumors, (II) folate-targeted mixed micelles for photothermal and photodynamic therapy, (III) stimulated mixed micelle system for chemo-photodynamic therapy. |
