제목 Theranosis with a polymeric micelle carrier system
초록 Polymeric micelle carriers have been actively studied for targeting of anti-cancer drugs to solid tumors through a passive targeting mechanism, enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. Since polymeric micelles can be formed through various cohesive interactions such as hydrophobic and ionic interactions, various chemical species including hydrophobic organic compounds and metal ions can be incorporated into polymeric micelles. Therefore, polymeric micelle carriers can deliver both contrast agents for diagnosis and drugs for chemotherapy. In this paper, we examine a polymeric micelle MRI contrast for visualization of hyper-permeable sites for macromolecules both in a tumor-transplanted model and a cerebral infarction model. In both cases, we obtained significant contrast enhancements at the hyper-permeable sites owing to selective accumulation of the contrast agent. In particular, the latter case is the first success for the cerebral infarction.
