In our previous study, amorphous silicate-alumina catalyst from coal fly ash (FSA) was synthesized by dissolution of silica and alumina ions with NaOH addition, followed by sol-gel coprecipitation method. In this work, catalytic crackings of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), which are representative polyolefins, were carried out over FSA. Their catalytic cracking behaviours were compared with those of zeolite-Y, silica-alumina and also thermal cracking. This study included a detailed characterization of the liquid products from catalytic cracking of polyolefins, and was specially devoted to the identification of their components by GC/MS. |
