Water flux and antimicrobial activity of Ag-nanoparticles on a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membrane |
초록 |
The chemical properties of a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membrane were prepared to yield a significant increase in the antimicrobial activity and enhance water flux. In this study, an increase of water flux was induced by membrane stretching and a crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) coating with glutaraldehyde (GA). The size of sliver nanoparticles (Ag-PVA) ranged from 30 to 100 ㎚ with a thickness of 1 to 5 ㎚. These modifications resulted in an increased water flux and fouling resistance that the water flux (LMH) of modified PVDF membranes ranged from 750 to 1400 and was dependent on the molecular weight of polyvinyl alcohol. The inactivation of gram-negative E. coli bacteria by silver ions showed a clear zone of inhibition averaging 3.1 ㎜, and the antimicrobial activity of released silver ions in membrane filtered water. |
