The electrode materials for Li ion batteries based on transition metal oxides generally are undergone structural conversion during lithiation-delithiation process, which leads to volume expansion and aggregation or pulverization of the electrode material that could cause serious decreasing of electrochemical stability. Use of two or more metal composite is one way to improve the poor electrochemical stability above mentioned. During lithiation-delithiation, the lower capacity part could ease the volume expansion of higher capacity part. In this work, we have simply fabricated porous CuO-SnO2 composite submicron spheres using template-directed method. With the assistant of porous structures and high surface area, the obtained particles show excellent capacity stability and coulombic efficiency. The enhanced electrochemical performance has been attributed to the CuO-SnO2 hybrid system as well as the high surface area resulted from their meso porous structure. |
