Plastics are used almost everywhere in the world and more environment friendly plastics are requested from the diverse places. Polylactide (PLA) is one of the renewable plastics, and a biodegradable aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources such as corn and beets. PLA could be applied to the biomedical field as suture, screws, and controlled drug-release devices. PLA is generally produced by ring-opening polymerization(ROP). ROP is able to produce PLA with high-molecular weights. In this study we studied on polymerization of L-lactide using late-transition metal catalyst constructed inside the nano-space. The resulting PLLA were characterized by FT-IR, DSC and GPC. |
