초록 | Chemoheterophic bacterium which converts carbon monoxide to hydrogen was isolated and identified by 16S rDNA cloning and sequencing using PCR. Isolated cellwas a rod cell, yellowish, and able to form a spore. Isolated cell could growchemoheterotrophically and convert carbon monoxide to hydrogen in Pfennig’s hydrogenproduction medium without growth. After two-day adaptaion, cells could convert 1 atmof carbon monoxide to hydrogen and maximum volumetric CO conversion rate was 5.3mmol/hr-L. Maximum specific CO conversion rate was estimated 14 mmol/hr-g celland was higher than that of Rhodospirillum rubrum. Doubling time of the isolated cell inthe chemoheterotrophic growth medium was shorter than 1 hour |
