The phenolic microbeads were obtained from phenol and formaldehyde in the presence of basic catalyst by suspension polymerization. In this reaction, triethylamine and ploy(vinyl alcohol) were used as initiator and stabilizer, respectively. As crosslinking agent, haxamethylenetetramine and/or ethylene diamine were used. The phenolic microbeads were synthesized into the size within 200~1000㎛, through oligomerization and crosslinking reactions. The effects of the reaction temperature and the concentration of initiator and crosslinking agent on the size distribution and morphology of phenolic microbeads were investigated. The effects of catalyst, stabilizer, and water content on them were also examined. |
