New functionalized siloles are being increasingly recognized as promising and desirable π-conjugated materials for potential device applications, and important contributions have been made in the areas of electro- and photoluminescence and nitroaromatic sensors.New siloles have been characterized by NMR, FTIR, and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy.Possible applications such as OLED and chemical sensors will be presented.
